Liquid Level Sensors

If You Cannot Measure It, You Cannot Control It

Every refrigeration system depends on knowing what is happening inside its vessels, receivers and separators.

Yet liquid level measurement is often taken for granted.

The reality is that inaccurate level measurements can affect everything from system efficiency and pump operation to compressor protection and overall plant stability.

That is why liquid level sensors are not just measurement devices.

They are critical control components.

At HB Products, our capacitive Liquid Level Sensors are developed specifically for industrial refrigeration, providing reliable and accurate measurements across a wide range of refrigerants and operating conditions.

Refrigeration Requires Refrigeration Sensors

Industrial refrigeration presents challenges that many standard level sensors were never designed to handle.

Low temperatures, varying pressures, aggressive refrigerants and demanding operating environments require more than a generic measurement solution.

Our sensors are engineered specifically for refrigeration applications and deliver accurate level measurements in ammonia, CO₂, hydrocarbons and other common refrigerants without the need for modifications or special adaptations.

Because reliable control starts with reliable data.

Simplify Installation and Future Upgrades

Instrumentation should not create unnecessary complexity.

Our unique split design separates the electronic head from the mechanical sensor element, making installation, diagnostics and future upgrades significantly easier.

If operational requirements change, upgrading from one model to another can often be done by simply replacing the electronic head rather than the entire sensor.

For example, moving from an HBLT-A1 to an HBLT-A3 does not require replacing the mechanical installation.

The result is reduced maintenance costs and greater flexibility throughout the sensor's lifetime.

Built for Harsh Refrigeration Environments

Industrial refrigeration systems operate in conditions that challenge both equipment and measurement technology.

Our sensors are designed to withstand temperatures from -60°C to +145°C, depending on the refrigerant and application.

This allows reliable operation across a broad range of refrigeration and process environments while maintaining measurement accuracy under demanding conditions.

Because a level measurement is only valuable if it remains accurate when operating conditions become difficult.

Designed for Small Vessels and Large Installations

No two refrigeration systems are identical.

That is why our Liquid Level Sensor range includes multiple mechanical configurations and lengths.

Rigid probe versions are available in lengths up to 3000 mm, while wire-based versions cover applications from 250 mm to 6 metres and can be adjusted on-site to suit the installation.

This flexibility allows accurate level measurement in everything from compact receivers to large industrial vessels.

One Technology for Multiple Refrigerants

Refrigeration systems continue to evolve.

The sensor technology should be able to follow.

Our capacitive measurement principle works across a wide range of refrigerants, including ammonia, CO₂ and butane, allowing a consistent approach to level measurement regardless of system design.

This simplifies both engineering and maintenance while ensuring reliable performance across different applications.

Configure the Sensor to Match the Application

Not every installation requires the same measurement strategy.

Some applications demand a simple plug-and-play solution. Others require detailed configuration to optimize performance.

Our sensors support both approaches.

Using the HB Tool, parameters can be adjusted to match specific operating conditions, ensuring accurate measurements and stable operation throughout the lifetime of the installation.

Better Measurements Create Better Refrigeration Systems

Operators make decisions based on the information available to them.

When level measurements are inaccurate, system performance suffers.

When measurements are reliable, operators can optimize operation, improve stability and protect critical equipment.

A Liquid Level Sensor does not improve performance by itself.

It improves performance by providing the information needed to make the right decisions.
